NHS England funding
31st October 2018
Funding has been approved from NHS England to implement specialist trauma informed clinical and safeguarding supervision in the Lancashire Youth Offending Teams (LYOT). This will benefit young people who are at most risk of receiving a custodial sentence.
These young people have often suffered the most trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and include children who are looked after in the care system, who are subject to social care involvement or who are unable to conform to social engagement, which could be as a result of previous trauma or ACEs. The project will provide evidence-based, structured supervision and will support LYOT staff to undertake functional assessments that will help young people to understand their emotional health and wellbeing, focusing on a treatment programme rather than an offender programme.
